About The Sign Maker
Here at The Sign Maker, we craft high-quality signs, memorials, and gifts. Our products are designed just the way you want them and crafted by hand. As well as caring about producing the very best products we care for nature. We try to be as environmentally friendly with our use of materials and where we sometimes struggle we try to offset our carbon impact with environmental projects. These projects include a wind turbine, biomass boiler, tree planting, and wildlife areas.
Commitment Updates
24th March 2023
In May 2022, soon after we were accepted as a partner, we launched our 'Queen Bee Project' in collaboration with The Outdoors Group. The project saw us gift six handcrafted bug hotels for the organisation to use as teaching resources at their sites across Devon. We joined a home education group for a morning of bug hunting, and have since been sent a number of photos of the boxes in use. Our hope was that the boxes would encourage the kids to connect with nature and explore biodiverse habitats - which certainly seems to have been achieved!
Throughout the summer and autumn months, we were more active across social media and our blog- encouraging our followers to consider their environmental impact and sharing small tips and tricks about how they too can reconnect with nature. The team participated in 'No Mow May', and 'Plastic Free July', in addition to hosting a 'Locals Week' to encourage local purchasing. This has been a joyous way to raise awareness for the biosphere that we are privileged to be a part of.
Last, but certainly not least, the beginning of 2023 saw The Sign Maker install a brand-new hybrid solar system. The new solar panels will work in tandem with our existing wind turbine and biomass boiler so that we can continue our efficient use of renewable energy for our sign manufacturing business.
It's been a busy one for sure, but we are already planning ahead for another fantastic year!
