Founded in 2010 they take part in citizen science and maintain a small community biodiversity area https://winkleighbiodiversity.blogspot.com/. Winkleigh Environment Group (set up in 2019 in response to the climate and ecological emergency) has also pledged to install 15 bird boxes on community land and plant ~100 trees. Barnstaple and District Devon Wildlife Trust Local Group, Uppacott Team: Early in 2020 they were able to get out and deal with brash from tree felling because of ash-dieback and created a "dead hedge" habitat from this; they also took part in strimming and raking areas for wild flower and butterfly habitat and digging out a new pond for amphibians and dragonflies. ‍Taw Fishing Club: Fixed 6 nesting boxes along the upper river Taw to help to increase the populations of wagtails and dippers that are in decline due to lack of suitable nesting sites. @tawfishingclub
