We had so many brilliant pledges from gardeners in 2021! It's brilliant to know so many people are taking action to improve nature in their gardens across the Biosphere.

WINNER: Trish in Winkleigh

Trish is working hard to create a sustainable garden next to arable land. They have and will continue to create habitats for wildlife: they are introducing native hedgerow and wildflower patches around their home and garden. All food they grow in their garden is through permaculture principles. In autumn, they planted loads of wild and tenby daffodils, along with wild garlic. They are also planning on turning the grass in their front garden into a beautiful wildflower patch.

OTHER COMMENDABLE PLEDGES 

Paul in Braunton

Paul made multiple pledges in 2021, most notably making a wildflower patch, letting hedges grow and engaging in citizen science initiatives! Paul submits weekly records of bird species and numbers, plus mammals, dragon/damselflies, butterflies, bumblebees, amphibians and reptiles.

Tim in West Yelland

Tim has been busy rewilding their small woodland garden and have been rewarded with hedgehogs visiting daily, newts and a whole host of other wildlife and flowers. They also have Devon Whitebeam, a Devon Special Species of tree which they hope to propagate.
