10,000 Trees planted, 100 nest boxes, 2 Pond projects and 1 Swift talk. A lot has been happening across the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere.
After a long winter it has been fantastic to hear bird song once again as we step into spring. With lots of activity happening, this Blog post took a little longer to get out but we think it is worth the wait.
In February we achieved a project mile stone as we passed 10,000 trees planted during the project! Thank you so much to everyone who has helped to achieve this. We also launched our last round of our Nature Recovery Challenge Fund. Jack has been busy out and about in the community seeing what people are doing for Nature Recovery. We are pleased t announce that the nominations for the 2022 Biosphere Nature Awards have been decided and the winners will be announced in May!
Here are the Pledge activity updates from this month...

· Jack joined Rose and Pete at Northam Burrows to help build bird and bat boxes.
· The Ashreigney and Riddlcombe Nature Recovery Group organised a talk from Swift Expert, Mark Smyth. The talk was inspire residents of the Parish to join their mission of making and installing 100 nest boes. With over 80 people attending the event was a great success!
· Ashley has pledged to do No Mow May
· Marwood Scouts have pledged to make and install Bat Boxes
· Roborough Rewilders have Pledge to make a pond
· Sarah has undertaken Riverfly Monitoring training
· Roberta has pledged to have 2 hedgehog houses and feeding stations and 4 wild bird feeders in their garden.
· Children at Appledore, with support from the community, are in the early stages of redeveloping their new pond. Jack met with the children to find out more. We look forward to seeing their progress over the coming months. (Photo credit:Lucy Willans)
· Tree planting Teddy proudly picture here having finished planting the trees on his farm with Ally and Steve.
